Welcome to the page about the many activities
and organisations in St. Marys.
The Guild
St Mary's Guild meets fortnightly on Tuesdays at 2.15p.m. in the church hall from September to April.
We are a friendly bunch, both ladies and gentlemen, and enjoy an interesting mix of talks and events, friendship and a cup of tea.
The Junior Church welcomes children aged 5 - 11 every
Sunday during school term time. A creche is available during Sunday services, and meets
in the committee room.
The Wednesday Club welcomes you to its meetings held from September to March,
usually on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the church hall.
The club is a social group which started over 40 years ago for the 25 to 50 age group,
and has 'matured' with the members.
The first meeting of the season is often a 'Cheese and Wine Evening ' at the home of the president.
Other meetings may take the form of an illustrated talk on a topic of local or worldwide interest,
followed by refreshments and chat; or perhaps musical entertainment with a buffet meal provided by the members. A
summer outing takes place in May or June.
For further information about the current syllabus please see the 'Chronicle' section on this website.
Dundee Parish Church (St. Mary’s) has a fine singing tradition going back many years and we’d like you to become part of that.
We sing a variety of music dating back to the time of Palestrina and Byrd right up to the present day with contemporary composers such as Bob Chilcott and of course, John Rutter.
We meet on a Sunday morning at 9.45 to rehearse and the service finishes at 12. People are often nervous about joining because they worry about their sight-singing skills but you’d be amazed at how quickly this improves when you’re singing two anthems and four hymns every Sunday! You also have the enjoyment of singing in a beautiful building and the pleasure of some wonderful music. You never have time to get bored of it because there is always something new each week.
You’re never too young or old to join the choir so please come along and try it out for a few weeks; you’ll be amazed at how quickly you get caught up in the music.
